A teacher for few days

I am part of the club, Young Catechist. As suggested by the name, we the members give catechism. This school year every Thursday we would go to Central Elementary School, a school just in front of ours, and give catechism to their learners.  We were divided into around 12 groups so as to accommodate many sections in the said school. In my part, I was grouped with another grade 6, it was actually a duo for us not a group. We may be small number but we were still able to handle a bit well the class assigned to us. Those (I think) 6 days of meeting with the children (Grade 2 learners) were really fun. Not only did they get to learn from us but we at the same time also learned from their sharing and insights. Below you'll see a different drawings. These drawings were drawn by the children in our class during one of our meetings. That meeting was about their fathers who just like God provides everything for the own welfare of their children. Club meetings has just ended. I am really going to miss those kids.

Baking Time

        Baking is really my family's favorite pastime. Whether there's an event or not as long as everyone has a free time and has nothing to do, baking comes in our way. So last time me and my younger sister, had nothing to do and decided to bake. Good thing, the ingredients needed for the cupcake are complete. We actually took a video of us while baking.

Run with Colors

2 Rules:

This morning I joined the Color Run in our place. It was such a fantastic experience and also a memorable one. As far as I know, there were more than two thousand people who joined the event. People of different ages merrily threw color powders to each other even to those people they do not know. I totally enjoyed the run especially because I was with my friends. Everyone looked so cute and funny with all those color powders plastered on their faces. I do hope there would be another color run soon.

Dancing in the Rain

This morning it rain quite hard in our place. I looked out the window and saw my sister playing in the rain while mom was just right there busy with her plants. I was really shocked to see it because mom would usually scold us whenever we would stay under the rain without any umbrella or hat. When asked mom why she's allowing my sister to be there outside while the rain is pouring hard she said that it's alright because you won't get sick when it's raining hard. She also added that only if you stay under the rain that's only drizzling then that's time you'll get sick. 

I was really amused to see my sister dancing and playing in the rain so I took some video of her and also the rain.

Enjoying the Waters

The photo above simply tells you how I (mostly) spent my summer this year. It's all about staying under the scorching heat of the sun and braving the big waves of the waters. 

Together with our relatives we went to the same beach (Tubog Beach) twice over the summer. I find it really fun because we do not only get to enjoy the beautiful beach and its cool waters but we also get to be closer again to each other. Those moments were really memorable and I do hope that we'll be having those kind of get-togethers again some time.

Homies in ze house!

Yesterday, my class (MMA) presented the Hysterical History Play of the Trojan War and my role in the story was that I was one of the Homerettes/Homies. 

So in this character me and my companions were the ones who narrated a few parts of the story by rapping or sometimes just plain singing.  This was a really an exciting role because you get to give any tune on the given lyrics as long as it suits them. I really had  fun while practicing for this role and also while performing it. During the performance, we, the Homies wore large shirts, jogging pants, tennis shoes and a cap. Yes, we really looked like real rappers that moment! Being a Homie wasn't easy because you have to say the words fast but clearly...You know, just like what a real rapper does. 

To sum it all up, being a Homie is FUN! So if you're going to play this hysterical thing I suggest you try being a Homie especially when you're into rapping/singing.

Hestia for a Moment

"The forgotten goddess. Most of the scholars would refer to me that way. 

Depressing? I'd say, not at all!"

These were my first lines for my monologue this morning in school. So basically, we have this monologue stuff in our English class. Each of the learners is supposed to prepare a speech/short talk as one of the characters in the Greek Mythology (for we took Greek Mythology on the first quarter of class). None of us should have the same character so it's really a must that you already have someone in your mind to portray and announce it immediately to your class. 

Honestly, it took me awhile to decide on which character I'd like to be. Then, I saw this flower crown at home and thought of choosing the goddess of harvest, Demeter. As I was about to tell my class that I'd like to be Demeter, someone had already chosen her. This saddened me because I had already thoughts of what things to do and to wear as Demeter but then I don't have any other choice. I had to look for another character. So I started to research again on other Greek characters especially on the the gods and goddesses. Then I came across the name of Hestia and got interested with her story. I read different articles about her and also descriptions of her so that I would be able to familiarize myself with the character. That time on, I had already made up my mind that I would be Hestia.

Making my monologue as Hestia was quite challenging but also exciting. It was challenging in the sense that I should make sure that I give true statements and not fictional ones. What I mean is that I should be stating facts about my character and not any made-up stories. At the same time it was exciting because I get to feel more of what it's like being Hestia. I get to be able to empathize more with her. 

On the day of the presentation I was quite nervous but then I saw my classmates perform really well before me so I told myself, I can do it too! On the start of my monologue there was still this feeling of fear that I might forget a line but as I continue on my speech, everything seems to flow smoothly. I delivered my lines properly (I think) and showed appropriate hand gestures and emotions. Although, I could say there were those who were better than me but then it doesn't matter because I know that I gave my all and I'm happy with it.

So, if you're going to have a monologue or any other presentations always remember to focus and calm down so that you won't feel pressured and would just enjoy performing in front of everyone.

Camp!

 Every school year the officers of each class would have a leadership training for a day or even just for a half day. This year it's a one and a half day training which seems to be like a 'mini camp'. With this way of leadership training many officers were so eager to join the seminar.As part of the LCB-A, our week before this said training was really busy because we had to prepare all the materials needed for the different games and also for the tokens. We also had to organized our schedules just to make sure that every activity would have an enough time allotted for it and for everything to run smoothly during the training.

So the Leadership Camp started at around 5 pm (July 19) for the registration at the GS AVR. It was really a pleasure to see big grins on the officers' faces as they signed up in the registration (I was part of the registration team). After everyone had signed up and had settled down in the AVR, we had a short prayer and short reminders of the house rules to be followed on the duration of training. Then we had our dinner at the refectory where each of the officers were seated with other officers from different year levels. This way, they started to go out their shells and started to interact with others not from their year level. After dinner, we had games which even tighten the bonds of the officers with each other. Then after that, we had the...... BONFIRE! That time, we all gathered together around the bonfire, sang songs and toasted our marshmallows. (Though not everyone had toasted their marshmallows because the heat from the bonfire was so high that every time you go near it seems like your face is getting burned.) We then had our 'grooming time'. After everyone had freshened up, we all gathered again in the AVR to watch a movie, which was entitled, The Five People You Meet in Heaven. It was such a wonderful movie for you could get a lot of lessons in life. One of these is that we affect other people' lives no matter how small we do to them. After the movie, we slept.

Early morning the next day (July 20) we had our dawn rosary then a morning exercise led by the C.A.T. officers. Sadly, some of the LCB-A officers, including me weren't able to join the exercise because we still had to take a bath to prepare some things for the activities to be done that day. On this day, we had a discussion on being a good and effective leader and also talked about the problems they encountered in class as an officer. Then, a talk was given by Nang Shaira Gonzaga, an alumnae of Assumption Iloilo. It was such a commendable talk because we gained a lot of lessons from the experiences she had as a leader and the advice that she gave to us on being a good officer. 

After the talk, we had a 'Budol Fight' for lunch. Chopsuey and fried chickens with cups of rice were laid on the banana leaves set on the table. Delicious fruits like watermelon and pineapple were also served. That was really a fun experience! Then after that, tokens were given out to the officers then a concluding prayer was said. 

This Leadership Camp is such a memorable one not only because it seems to be like a mini camp but because of the friendships and good relationships that developed among the officers.

'Mini Photo Shoot'

This year, we are having photography class in our Computer subject (we meet twice a week). Every meeting we would be asked to take pictures of a certain landscape or an object depending on the given topic. One of these was to photograph grasses(could be anywhere) and architecture(only in school). Since I brought my digital camera that time, I immediately started on taking pictures of the architectural structures in school. For the grasses I chose to do it at home. In mind, I already thought of asking my sister to be part of my photo shoot. Thankfully, she agreed! So these are the photos I took.

Eis it is!

I only own one of these ice creams .

Afternoon of July 4, 2013 was really rainy and cold, surprisingly, because it was very warm and sunny in the morning. The weather is just so weird. Instead of grabbing some hot chocolate or eat a newly-cooked batchoy, I bought an ice cream! Though I have cough and runny nose at that time. I guess, I just missed eating ice cream for awhile and I cannot resist just seeing them on the fridge without grabbing one most especially when there is a chocolate flavored ice cream. Yep, I'm a chocoholic. 

Aside from the reason that I missed eating it, it just feels so relaxing sitting on your car and watching the rain with a yummy ice cream in hand. Don't you think so? 

Hot tea, soups and other food that will keep you warm are good to be taken during cold or rainy days. Although ice creams are also good for those weathers because they may not keep you warm and instead they can keep you relax (in my opinion) and have some time for yourself as you enjoy the raindrops. So...Eis it is!

P.S. Eis is a German word for ice or ice cream.

Farewell Diamonds!

They say , 'Diamonds are a girl's best friend' but nowadays the quote seems to change for many prefer this new trend, the flower crown. Diamonds seem to step down one level to give way for the famous 'Flower Crowns'. There's even one quote that says, ' I'd rather wear flowers on my hair than diamonds on my neck.' This states the many would prefer a simple headband filled with flowers than a pricey jewelry on their necks. Flower crowns seem to be more 'teen-looking' than diamond rings, necklaces and earrings.  They are much simpler and at the same time more elegant (in my opinion), I'd say. The thing about flower crowns are that they could just be hand-made by anybody and do not cost an arm and a leg when bought in the stores. The latter might be one of the reasons why flower crowns became a trend most especially to the teens. For with it they could be fashionable-looking in an effortless way. Unlike the diamonds that cost so much and would even attract bad vibes (thieves, jealousy,etc.) Looking at it, this new trend seems to work well in our society. So...Farewell diamonds!

Dad's Day

Google's celebration logo last Sunday (06/16/13)

I know this is a really late post about Father's Day but nevertheless I'd still like to continue on posting an article about it. So I started with Google's logo that day for I find it cute. yeah, I just find it cute. haha. Now, belated Happy Father's Day to all dads out there especially to Mr. Edgardo Sigaya, my dad!

I am so lucky to have him (I guess almost every child would say this but let me say it myself). He might not be there all the time because of his work but he would always try his best to be there beside us on important events and would email to each and every one of us every single day. Last Father’s Day, I made a collage (the photo above) and sent it to him on Facebook. Afterwards I emailed him telling about it so that he’ll open his Facebook because he rarely opens it. Haha. Yep, he’s not one of those ‘techie dads’ but it does not matter.  "Someday I will find my prince but my Dad will always be my King". Again, Belated Happy Father's Day!
